Amimi Makes... Everyone Welcome!!!! (and a scarf!)

Hello and Welcome to Amimi Makes!!!
I am super excited about this blog and hope to update it weekly with tutorials, art, and lots of nerdy crafts! My main focus her will most likely be on yarn and string based projects but who knows!
So why not start with a bang!
Our first pattern will be for a simple basket weave scarf I made my Dad for Christmas. I live in New Jersey and it has been super cold here so this scarf was a welcome gift!

The thing I like about this pattern is it's simplicity with great basket weave like results that look nice on both sides. If you have Knit and Purling down you can make this! Also since it's a scarf you can translate it to any size needles or yarn weight.
So on to our tutorial!

Basket weave scarf

size 8 (5.0 mm) needles
4 Medium Worsted Weight Yarn

Step 1: Cast on 26 loops.

Step 2: Seed stitch (knit 1, Purl 1) for 3 rows.

For The following rows we will create a seed stitch boarder.

Step 3: Seed stitch the first 3 stitches.
Follow this pattern across starting with knit:
K. 4, P. 4, K. 4, P. 4, K. 4
Seed stitch the final 3 stitches.

Step 4: Repeat step 3 for 3 lines.

Step 5: Seed stitch the first 3 stitches.
Follow this pattern across starting with Purl:
P. 4, K. 4, P. 4, K. 4, P. 4
Seed stitch the final 3 stitches.

Step 6: Repeat steps 3-5 until your scarf is the desired length.

Step 7: Seed stitch for 3 rows.

Step 8: Cast off your scarf in seed stitch and weave in the ends.

See so simple! If you have never broken away from just normal knitting or purling this scarf is a good start. Seed stitch is super forgiving and you start to memorize the pattern after doing it so many times.
